Has everyone already heard of this book?

Trauma and Recovery, by Judith Lewis Herman. She also wrote Father Daughter Incest, both full of useful information.

Judy Herman is an M.D. and a psychiatrist. She is one of the leading authorities in this country on the subject of trauma, particularly the trauma that comes with incest, non-family sexual abuse, and ritualistic abuse. She's pretty well written the book on how to treat this kind of thing. She has also done quite a bit of work on a condition called Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which is very different from regular Post Traumatic Stress Disorder which follows each and every incidence of trauma. This new condition hasn't yet been accepted by the American Psychiatric Association, but it is hoped that it will be included in the next edition of their Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders which will be published in 2013. I can wholeheartedly recommend anything Judy has written to all of you. She's fantastic!

My T had me read Father Daughter Incest. I did find it helpful. It was difficult for me. But anything with the word incest in it at that time, was. I was still referring to it by other names, because I was physically unable to say the word incest or rape. My brain would just go ----------------------- and nothing. I did find the information very useful. I donated the book to my T, to loan to other clients who might benefit from reading it.
Voiceless.
